Richard Crook's one-man band Lover! is one of my favorite acts to keep track of; his singles rarely, if ever, fail to meet expectations, and the material comes out like clockwork a couple times a year. Just another one of the main guys in the underground always toiling, always producing. Plus, he was at one point in the Viva L'American Death Ray Music, and I mean, come on. Come on.
This song doesn't go many places, it just rattles itself along, like a Thunderbird cruising down the 101 with the top down, or the montage scene in a rock 'n' roll movie where the band finally learns how to gel like a unit, a tight platoon of rockers and misfits. A leg kick here, a shot of the guitarist flopping over the drumkit, and hey, suddenly everyone both likes each other and is way more talented than they used to be. Be sure to listen to Booger in My Asshole as well (Eww, -ed).
Single is out on Red Lounge; you can buy a copy if you send an email to the guy who runs Revolver, dave AT midheaven DOT com. An album is supposedly on the way, but Red Lounge is a busy bugger and can delay a bit. Hopefully before Christmas, and hopefully a tour will accompany that release.
