The debut album by British-born Slow Club came out back in July, but I just got around to listening to it last night. Mistake.
The album, Yeah So, is not a through-and-through masterpiece, but there are enough enjoyable songs on the album to make it a worthwhile listen. The first song I've posted here especially is amazing. It took me a little while to place the similarity, but I think you, dear reader, will note a strong sonic parallel with Funeral-era Arcade Fire (especially in the closing thirty seconds).
I kept changing my mind about which song to post as the b-side for this post, about three times. The original selections, if you are so concerned, can be found here and here. The song I ended up picking is more in their style than that first track -- the guitars bounce more, the singing features more harmony, and the overall sentiment is more ebullient. That's Slow Club, near as I can place 'em.
These guys are only playing in the UK for now -- send them loving letters and maybe they'll come visit.
