When I was in middle school, I wasn't cool. Sure, most of us weren't, but I was pretty bad. While you were listening to Belle and Sebastian, I was wearing oversized t-shirts from amusement parks, writing mods for Command and Conquer, and once laughed at a friend who said he liked the Beatles ("Pshaw, my dad listens to them!")
I did, however, listen to Love Line with Adam Corolla and Dr. Drew. I learned about sex and drugs before I'd had contact with either, and more generally, I learned how fucked up people are. I also discovered Harvey Danger and their first album Where Have All The Merry Makers Gone, which was pretty much the only music I listened to for a year or more.
I knew they broke up long ago, but I didn't know they'd reunited, released a third album for free on the internet (download it). It's pretty good, less rashly rebellious than their previous stuff, more grown up, polished, and produced, as you'll hear in the second song below. The first song comes from WHATMMG, and is one big Vertigo reference. Oh and they broke up again.
