King Khan is one of the craziest guys rocking these days, and it is as if he sees that as a mantle to adopt, a gauntlet to be run, a lifestyle to live. Being a crazy rocker is a right that few exercise, but he does it with the same veracity as the Black Lips.
His habitual accomplice, BBQ aka Mark Sultan, somehow manages to scale the insanity back, meaning there is nothing approaching the merciless ferocity of Land of the Freak. This toned-down approach is evident on the material they have done in the past and it definitely comes across in the laid back 60s groove of Do the Chop, off their new album, Invisible Girl.
Unfortunately, I picked up this album just a couple weeks too late, they have already paraded through many of our east coast towns. They'll hit Chicago and Toronto in a month but other than that, you gotta wait for dates next year. Sorry kids!
