Six years since the release of their self titled EP, Reverie Sound Revue finally released a self titled LP. Quite a task considering that the band members are spread throughout Canada- the same reason they have no current plans for touring, aside from a six part video blog tour; links at Reverie Sound Revue and Boompa.
Lisa Lobsinger, probably better known for her hair styles and barefoot singing on stage with Broken Social Scene, brings her powerfully haunting voice over dreamy melodies on the album. Just two songs in and you'll find your ears caught by the wonderful sounds of We Are the Opposite of Thieves, if you manage not to put An Anniversary Away on repeat. At first Arrows might feel like an extension or different take on An Anniversary Away, which isn't a bad thing at all, but it'll start to grow on it's own after a few more listens. May Be First May Be Second has such a great build-up (and it also answers my demand for more xylophone) and once the riff that leads into the vocals gets going you'll once again find yourself lost in the music. The album itself has a very similar flow from song to song which can lead to losing track of time and great background, no matter what's going on in the foreground.
